India U19 captain dropped for age discrepancy

New Delhi: A discrepancy found in the age of India U-19 skipper Ankit Bawne has forced the Borad of Control for Cricket in India to drop him from the Quadrangular series beginning in Vishakhapatnam. Unmukt Chand has been named as the new captain of the Indian team.
The BCCI said in a media relase that the Bawne's date of birth as registered by it was not the same as mentioned on the player's passport. It was decided that the right-handed batsmen ought to be left out of the tournament that will have sides representing Australia, Sri Lanka and West Indies.

Bawne has been replaced by Delhi batsman Chand - who also played in the previous edition of the Indian Premier League for the Delhi Daredevils. Jharkhand batsman Kumar Deobrat is the vice-captain.
