Mercedes Benz CLS Sedan
Mercedes-Benz has launched the new CLS
350 BlueEfficiency Avantgarde in India. The new CLS is priced at INR
67.67 lakh ex-showroom Delhi. The launch event was held at the Grand
Hyatt, Mumbai. The next-generation Mercedes-Benz CLS as we all know
follows on the footsteps of its predecessor which has created a new
segment of stylish and sporty four-door saloons. The boomerang
headlights of the old CLS are gone and are replaced by the more angular
headlight design.
The new exterior package is accentuated
by the sharp defining lines that flow around the car and equally by the
dominating Mercedes corporate grille up front. The car has got awesome
presence when it comes to sheer size and style which is something
customers look for in this category of luxury saloons. The engine that
powers this uber cool automobile is a 3.5 litre V6 petrol with 306
bhp@6500 rpm and 370 Nm@350o rpm.
The engine is coupled with a 7-speed
automatic transmission to access the 306 horses seamlessly. The car
rides on 17 inch rubber and offers space for four and big boot. The
coupe like roof line which slopes towards the back might make the
interior a bit claustrophobic for tall passengers however, Mercedes-Benz
has provided features inside the car to keep the passengers occupied
which might help turn their minds away from the limited headroom the car
has to offer.
The new Mercedes will take on its
competitors like the Audi A7 Sportback and the BMW 5 Series GT. The
launch of the new saloon comes as the German automaker is trying to
regain the top spot in the Indian luxury market. BMW has been heading
the segment in terms of sales for the last few years. Mercedes-Benz has
chalked out an ambitious plan to gain what it lost to its rival almost a
decade ago. The launch of the new CLS is among the other launches
planned by the company. Mercedes will also enter the entry-level premium
segment soon.
