A top Nokia executive recently defined the company's focus areas as the less than-Rs 6,000 handsets with S40 being the desired platform and internet connectivity an important feature.
More detailed strategy emerged when Steven Elop, the chief executive officer of Nokia, visited India recently.

German Court Upholds Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Ban (Again)

German consumers who were looking to get their hands on a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 are still out of luck. The Düsseldorf Regional Court on Friday upheld its preliminary injunction against Samsung, a ruling that stems from a patent lawsuit filed by Apple.

The ruling means that a previous ban on selling the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Germany remains. As noted by patent blogger Florian Mueller, "Samsung has exhausted its options with the Düsseldorf Regional Court on the fast track," but it does have options.

Microsoft's online services hit by outage

Several of Microsoft's online services suffered an outage on Thursday but are reportedly all back up at this point.

The company's Office 365, Hotmail, SkyDrive, and various Windows Live services were down throughout the world for a period of around three hours. Microsoft acknowledged the outage late yesterday in its Inside Windows Live blog and on its Office 365 Twitter feed and said that it was working to resolve the issue.
After a couple of hours of investigation, the company pinned the cause on a DNS (Domain Name System) issue and said that it was starting to see intermittent recovery in various regions of the world. DNS is responsible for translating domain names, such as microsoft.com, into IP addresses, such as 207.46.170.123, so that Internet traffic can be delivered to the right location.

MUMBAI: Benchmarks ended three-day rally and closed in the negative territory as traders unwounded long positions near crucial resistance levels following weakness in global markets. The US president Barrack Obama's plans to create more jobs by giving $ 447 billion stimulus failed to lift sentiments.

According to analysts, the market had rallied in the past few sessions and a correction was expected. Investors will now look out for IIP data and Reserve Bank of India's policy meet next week for further direction. The market is expected to consolidate in a range for next few sessions and may witness some volatility in rate sensitive sectors.

US Navy Seals killed bin Laden in a May helicopter-borne raid on his house in north-western Pakistan.
They took the corpse with them, but left at least two of his wives and several children in the house.
They were detained by Pakistani authorities.

Obama Proposes $447 Billion Jobs Stimulus Plan

President Barack Obama channeled the national frustration with the economy that threatens his political standing and challenged the U.S. Congress to pass a $447 billion jobs plan tilted heavily toward the Republican prescription of tax cuts.

The president, speaking before a joint session of Congress, demanded six times that lawmakers act “right away” on a plan that would boost spending on infrastructure, stem teacher layoffs and cut in half the payroll taxes paid by workers and small business owners.
