SRK to begin shooting for YRF after 'Ra.One' release







Ever since Yash Chopra announced his next film a few months ago, the wait for this film has already begun. The veteran, who directed 'Veer Zaara' more than seven years ago, is all set to begin his next film with Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma in the lead. This time, the respected and revered film-maker has signed A.R. Rahman to score the music of his forthcoming film. 

Katrina: I'm terrified of working with SRK


Katrina Kaif makes a pretty pair with Imran Khan in their next film, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan. Directed by first-timer Ali Abbas Zafar, the film will release this Friday.


In a candid conversation, Katrina spoke freely about the success of her previous film Zindagi Na Milegio Dobara, working with Imran, her upcoming films with Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan and why there are no camps in the industry. Sonil Dedhia took notes.


Vodafone Facebook phone coming to India

NEW DELHI: Vodafone India is reportedly all set to launch its self-branded mobile phones in the Indian market. The handset Vodafone 555 Blue, also known as the Facebook phone has been originally manufactured by TCL.

This app lets you SMS in local language


NEW DELHI: Mobile value added service provider IMImobile launched a free of cost download mobile application "My SMS" which would allow customers to access the content of SMS in their local language, specially on low-end mobile phones.

To begin with, the service is available in eight languages, English, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Gujarati, Marathi and Bangla.

Apple to open first store in Hong Kong to boost sales


Apple is planning to open its first store in Hong Kong as it seeks to capture a greater share of the booming Asian market.

The store comes as Apple's outlets in Beijing and Shanghai continue to be among the best performing ones across the globe.
According to Apple, its sales in the Asia-Pacific region surged 247% to $6.3bn (£3.9bn) in the third quarter.
Apple currently operates four stores on the Chinese mainland.

Oil & gas, tech, capital goods push Sensex in green


The market bounced back in the afternoon trade led by oil & gas, technology, capital goods and auto (four-wheeler) stocks. European markets, which lost 3.5-5% yesterday, too gained further on the back of short covering; France's CAC, Germany's DAX and Britain's FTSE were up over 1%.

The 30-share BSE Sensex was trading at 16,753, up 39 points and the 50-share NSE Nifty rose 13 points to 5,029. But the market breadth was in favour of declines; about 616 shares gained while 784 shares dropped.

Rupee down by 18 paise against US dollar


The Indian rupee was down by 18 paise at Rs 46.16 per US dollar in early trade today on persistent dollar demand from banks and importers amid weak domestic equity markets and strengthening of the American currency overseas. 

India gold rises 1.5%, moderates demand


India gold futures gained more than 1.5% on Friday tracking a firm world market, moderating demand in the domestic spot market in the middle of the festive season, dealers said.

* The most-active gold for October delivery on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) was trading 1.51% higher at Rs 27,627 per 10 grams at 3:11 pm

Will-Kate donate Land Rover wedding gift to MRT


Prince William and Kate Middleton have donated their Land Rover, which they got as a wedding gift, to a mountain rescue team (MRT).

The Duke and Duchess, both 29, passed on the vehicle to MREW (Mountain Rescue England and Wales), which then organized a draw where Prince Harry selected the winner of the vehicle out of the 26 possible rescue teams.

Facebook prepping a 'Translate' button for its pages, say reports


Facebook is reportedly prepping a new feature that will allow its users to view others' wall posts in the language of their choice with just a single click. The “Translate” button, reports say, is presently visible to only a handful of Facebook users and is expected to be rolled out elsewhere very soon.

Large Libyan military convoy arrives in Niger: source


AGADEZ, Niger — A large military convoy from Libya arrived in the northern Niger city of Agadez late Monday, a military source told AFP.
"I saw an exceptionally large and rare convoy of several dozen vehicles enter Agadez from Arlit... and go towards Niamey," the source said, amid speculation that toppled leader Moamer Kadhafi may be in it.

MiG-21 crashes in Punjab, pilot ejects


CHANDIGARH: Within a period of one month, one more MiG-21 of the Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed near Rajpura in Punjab on Tuesday morning. However, it was a miraculous escape for the pilot, Flight Lt Arnav Ghosh, who ejected safely. No civilian causality was reported as it crashed in the open fields.

Earlier on August 2 this year, a MiG-21 was crashed in Bikaner soon after taking off from Naal airfield in Rajasthan's Bikaner district killing the pilot.

Miffed Maya hits back, calls 'WikiLeaks owner mad'


Enraged over WikiLeaks report, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati today called the website owner mad and offered to put him in Agra asylum. Dismissing the report, Mayawati said, "What WikiLeaks has said about me is baseless and the report shows anti-Dalit mindset." "I strongly condemn the politics over WikiLeaks report, the owner might be working with our opponents. With the assembly polls next year, I ask my partymen not to pay heed to such reports," she said.
