Kate Middleton's wedding dress draws record crowds

The lacy gown in which Kate Middleton wed Prince William April 29 has been on display at Buckingham Palace since July 23.

It and other wedding attire such as the tiara the queen loaned Kate, are drawing such crowds, even at 17 pounds (about $27) admission for adults, that the palace expects to set a record both in visitors to an exhibit and funds raised, according to news reports.

Britain's Daily Mail says more than 354,000 people have visited the palace public exhibition rooms since the dress went on display, and that it is poised to smash records by the time it closes Oct. 3. Profits from tickets go to charities chosen by the young royals as well as upkeep of royal palaces and possessions.
