Delhi high court blast a terror attack, says Chidambaram


NEW DELHI: Home minister P Chidambaram in his statement in Parliament severely condemned the bomb blast that killed at least nine people outside the Delhi high court.

Terming the blast as a terrorist attack, Chidambaram said it was not possible at this stage to identify the terrorists who exploded the bomb outside the court.


Chidambaram added that the Capital has always been a target of terror groups who have been trying to destabilize the nation. Accordingly, Delhi had been put on high security alert, he said in a brief statement.

Extending his sympathies to those killed and injured in the blast, Chidambaram said we should never be intimidated by terror groups.

The home minister said that the NIA and the NSG are investigating the case.

Condemning the terror attack, BJP leader LK Advani said that the nation should be united in moment of crisis.

Earlier, Chidambaram held a high-level security meet in the wake of blast outside Delhi High Court.

The Lok Sabha was also adjourned and question hour suspended for Chidambaram to make a statement in Parliament on the bomb explosion.

Speaker Meira Kumar condemned the bombing and expressed sympathies for victims.
